Daniel Goleman, PhD on “Focus:The Hidden Driver of Excellence”
Date(s) - Apr/03
Academy of Music
Daniel Goleman, PhD, is a psychologist known internationally for his 1995 book Emotional Intelligence – Why It Can Matter More Than IQ . His new book, Focus: The Hidden Driver of Excellence delves into surprising findings from neuroscience labs and explains why attention is a little-noticed mental asset that makes a huge difference in how well we find our way in our personal lives, our careers, as parents and partners, and in virtually everything we do.
In his first Valley event to discuss Focus Dr.Goleman will address educators, health and mental health professionals, parents, and students of education.
As a science journalist Goleman reported on the brain and behavioral sciences for The New York Times for many years, and Emotional Intelligence – Why It Can Matter More Than IQ was on The New York Times Bestseller list for a year and a half. The Harvard Business Review called emotional intelligence – which discounts IQ as the sole measure of one’s abilities -”a revolutionary, paradigm-shattering idea”. Focus represents the next step in Goleman’s thinking and has implications for all who have a stake in the social, emotional, and intellectual development of children.
This presentation is a benefit for The Academy at Charlemont.
