Occupy Wall Street Film Shorts

Date: 02/01/2012 Time: 6:00 pm

Location
Academy of Music

On February First and Second, seventeen members of Occupy Wall Street will be visiting Northampton for two days in a biodiesel bus. While they are here, they are teaming up with Occupy Northampton to screen a unique selection of short independent films that have been produced by activists in the #Occupy movement. The film shorts will be followed by a facilitated discussion and Q and A session with OWS organizers along with representatives of community and activist groups in Western MA. We will be joined by the curator Nick Shimkin, of No One Can Predict the Moment of Revolution: Films From #OWS, and NYC filmmaker Messiah Rhodes. Come to the screening and learn about the increasingly important role that crowd sourced media plays in social justice movements.

This impressive and thoughtfully curated program of politically au courant grassroots indie cinema totals about 60 minutes, followed by an hour-long discussion. The screening is free and we will happily be accepting donations at the door to cover costs. Food For Thought Books will be selling relevant literature in the lobby.
