The Academy of Music presents The Dragon King, a Tanglewood Marionette production for ages 4 and up and their families. The story begins when a terrible drought has overtaken the land and the entire world has turned brown and lifeless. The people are beginning to wonder why The Dragon King, ruler of the waters, has not brought precious rains to their lands for a very long time.  This underwater fantasy, which is based on Chinese folklore, continues the tale of a wise Grandmother who journeys to the bottom of the sea to seek the Dragon King, and the answers to why he has forsaken the land above. With colorful sea creatures, visual splendor, and an exciting adventure that audiences have come to expect from a Tanglewood Marionette production, The Dragon King is a heart-warming tale that thrills young and old alike.

 Founded in 1993, Tanglewood Marionettes is a nationally touring marionette theater based in New England. Their repertoire consists primarily of classic tales performed by skilled puppeteers who have spent many years perfecting their art.
